Benefits of Yoga Meditation
If you would like to get rid of pain, we give you a few pointers on how to go about it by using yoga and meditation techniques. The very first thing that needs to be made crystal clear is that it isn’t complicated, it doesn’t take a whole bunch of time and it can mainly be done by anyone. This is one of the most widely accepted and practiced methods to heal and relieve stress by all cultures and religions. The main thing about meditation is being able to focus mentally on something so that the mind becomes relaxed, calm and peaceful.
You can meditate with the accompaniment of chanting or maybe music - you could even do it with absolute silence. There are times that the main focus of concentration can be on a rhythm of your breath or a picture and posture. Irrespective of the approach used, you need a silent and peaceful environment to practice it besides a regular uninterrupted time on your daily schedule. Once you have decided what it is you want to focus on and where you are going to practice it, make yourself comfortable- not too much so you fall asleep. What you need to achieve is a slightly trance-like state - part of your surroundings yet detached from everything around you. However, there are two much deeper states where the mind is able to become calmer still. These include Judaism, Sufism and mystical Christian traditions. Buddhism uses it in order to focus and direct one’s mental path to get to the point of enlightenment. While it can be done anywhere, anytime and in any position, what you will find is that the best way to do it is in the sitting position which is known as ‘zazen’.
The benefits of yoga meditation have been researched and put down in a study by Harvard professor, Herbert Benson. The studies that have been conducted have shown that even twenty minutes can really help to reduce your blood pressure, your breathing and heart rates, slow the metabolism and reduce the muscle tension. Occasionally, once you have reached a deep state, you are going to start to see swirls of mental pictures and colors or you are going to internally hear a voice that is talking to you. It has been proved by follow-on studies that meditation also relieves stress, headaches, anxiety, fatigue, migraine, chronic pain and insomnia.
The good news is that with better self awareness, comes a better state of health and well-being for you both in mind as well as body and you find yourself functioning much better that you thought possible. Traditionally, meditation has been a tool for spiritual improvement - however, it is becoming an effective tool for stress management, achieving internal peace, tranquility and relaxation in a ruthless and exacting fast-paced lifestyle. By combining daily meditation and yoga, one can indeed achieve a stress free life.
